Do you remember?

The first year when you were stricken with adolescent self-loathing?

{I've been having a lot of conversations with parents who have children around this age.}
{My pitiful, petulant stage started when I was about 10. I was an early bloomer.}

Yikes, that IS early! I think mine started at the age of 12. I'm sure all those years of immersing myself in Sweet Valley High books didn't help.

Ah, the days of Sweet Valley High. I am still so sad to this day that I don't have a twin, a red fiat spider, and a matching lavalier necklaces with said twin.

awww sweet valley! i was in a used bookstore the other day and ended up in the teen section amongst a pile of sweet valley high books.

(who the hell owns a red fiat spider in high school anyhow?)

i think i was in grade 7. how old are you then?

i remember noticing, for the first time, how incredibly pale i was, and that i hated my skinny skinny calves and that no matter what i did, my hair never looked quite as nice as the popular girls. i felt awkward and gangly and pimply and i didn't really recover from it at all throughout high school - i just prickled and said i didn't care.

ah yes, that awkward stage. ha - glad i'm out of it now!
